How it works

While the RUUD Modulating furnace is a highly sophisticated heating product it brings you what you are looking for in a heating system.

For example, a conventional furnace or a 2-stage is either "on" or "off" depending on the temperature setting on the thermostat.  Once the setting has been reached, the furnace will turn off.  The house temperature needs to go down before activating "on" the thermostat which starts the furnace again. As a result, the temperature in your home will fluctuate, giving you hot or cold spots which can vary as much as 3 to 5 degrees.

In comparison, the Modulating furnace when used with the Contour Comfort Control thermostat is always analyzing the heat loss of your home.  It relies on sensors installed in the ductwork which accurately reads the constant air flow temperature and sends that information to the thermostat which in turn directs the furnace to give the precise temperature you want and eliminating hot and cold spots in your home.

The Modulating furnace can operate as low as 40% capacity to 100%. This multi-function system constantly reads the temperature of the house and adjusts the gas valve and fan speed as needed keeping the temperature from fluctuating no more than 0.5 degrees Celsius throughout the house, thus providing the best comfort available with low fuel and electrical consumption.

Multi-functions
